Race of the Santas & the Lighting of Breckenridge
The holiday season doesn’t officially start in Breckenridge until the first weekend of December when hundreds of Santas, elves, reindeer and jolly dressers race, sprint, walk or prance down Main Street for the Race of the Santas. In true holiday fashion, the six-block (0.75 mile) race serves up cold milk, cookies and holiday treats at the aid stations. Truly what Santa is looking for! Join the thousands that line Main Street to cheer on the racers and ring in the holiday season with good cheer.
Four-legged friends can get into the festive spirit with their own holiday parade at Main Street Station. It’s the cutest Holiday dog race you’ve ever seen!
After the joyful jaunt, the racers join all merry locals, festive visitors and local dignitaries to unveil the holiday lights in town. The festivities will take place on the Blue River Plaza in the heart of downtown with carolers. Watch as Santa’s magic flips the switch to light up the Town Tree, and, of course, make sure to visit with the real Santa after the ceremony! (203 S. Main Street)
